Poix
Samuel, also known as "Poix," is a versatile hip-hop artist from North Miami, Florida. As a child, he participated in rap battles and cyphers, studying battle rappers like Arsonal and Nu Jersey Twork, which helped him develop a competitive edge. Though he was often recognized as one of the best talents in his social circle, Poix’s main focus was basketball, and music was just a side interest. At 17, Poix suffered a tragic sports accident, tearing his ACL, MCL, and injuring his meniscus while attempting a dunk. Due to lack of insurance, his surgery was delayed for months, and he struggled physically, which ultimately led him to give up on his basketball dreams. During his recovery, Poix spent two weeks bedbound, during which he discovered his passion for songwriting, writing over 25 songs in a month. After his surgery, he tried returning to basketball but realized it wasn’t feasible. On his 18th birthday, Poix decided to record one of the songs he’d written, releasing his first single, "Nothing 2 Lose," under the alias 'TM Slim.' The positive reception of the song motivated him to pursue music seriously, and he began refining his craft, releasing tracks like "Letter from My Soul" and "War Baby." His breakthrough came when he recorded a remix of Blxst's "Be Alone," adopting a more melodic approach, which led him to explore this sound further. Today, Poix continues to blend witty lines, smooth flows, and soothing melodies, with singles like "Beautiful Nightmares" and "Pot Pie," still showing much untapped potential in his musical journey.
